Pre-School Admissions

MCPC welcomes diversity in race, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, and physical ability. Enrollment is limited to 25 children, and we strive to create a balanced mix of boys and girls of different ages.

We serve the needs of children during the two years prior to kindergarten. A child is eligible to begin preschool if s/he reaches three before September 1st of the school year. (Some exceptions may be made for early Fall birthdays, at the Director's discretion.)

Interested parents should attend our Parent Information Night in January, where they will be able to sign up for a school tour.

Parent Information Night

MCPC's Parent Information Night is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on the last Wednesday in January of each year. The Parent Information Night is held at the school. Prospective parents of children seeking to enter MCPC in September of the same year, are encouraged to attend this event. No reservation is required.

School Tours • Required

Parents interested in submitting an enrollment application must first tour the school with their child. Enrollment applications are distributed at the end of each tour. Tours are scheduled during the month of February from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, while the preschool is in session.

To sign up for a school tour, attend our Parent Information Night, email preschool@mcpckids.org or leave a message at (510) 339-7213. Tours will not be scheduled by phone or email until after the Parent Information Night.

Lottery Selection Process

Enrollment applications are due in March. Our enrollment lottery takes place shortly after the application deadline.

Diversity

MCPC believes that children learn best from actual experiences and that the experience of attending preschool with children and families from a variety of backgrounds is the best way to teach the value of differences. To achieve this we hold spots each year for children whose backgrounds differ in significant ways (including race, culture, religion, family structure, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and ability) from those represented among the current membership.  All diversity spots are filled at random from eligible applicants, and a diversity waiting list is created for those remaining.  All diversity applicants who are not offered one of the designated diversity spots will also be included in the general lottery.

Tuition & Deposits

Tuition for the 2017-18 school year is $455 per month for ten months, September through June. A non-refundable deposit equal to one month's tuition is required on acceptance. The deposit will be applied towards tuition in June of your second year.

Financial Assistance

Financial Assistance is available to both incoming and returning preschool families. Online financial aid forms must be completed by March 21st. Financial Assistance is based on need and is a percentage of the monthly tuition, typically in the 10 - 40% range. Online Financial Assistance forms are here: http://sssbynais.org/parents/

Please anticipate an increase in tuition, fees and deposits of approximately 6% per year.
